Why is this house for sale?
The simple answer is this, we (my wife and I) are moving permanently to our house in Thailand & this property is the last major asset that we have to release before we can go.
To be clear, when I say 'moving to Thailand', I am not saying getting on a plane with a few extra suitcases - I actually mean, packing a 40 foot shipping container and having it shipped on a boat to Thailand & then delivered to our property, up in Northern Thailand.
My family moved into this house in October 1968 (as renters), my parents purchased it in 1974 for $18,500 with a home loan from Great Western Savings for $14,782 - and our family has lived in it from that point forward.
My father was a police officer for over 30 years and my mother worked for the US Forest Service for 39 years. It took almost 4 years (about 2 days each week) to go through every single thing to clear out the buildup of their lifetime(s) of collective items & to respectfully decide what to do with it – ultimately – mostly being divided and distributed to extended family while other documentation of their youth & work, was provided to various entities for historical preservation and archival purposes.
The house was idle for another year as we were working to prepare our Thailand property & as we moved our assetts & resources over there.
It was then my specific choice to update & upgrade this house to this amazing level; simply to honor my mother & to make this house beautiful in a way that she would have absolutely loved - yet she could not do during her time here.
Now that this house has been completely refurbished & honor has been satisfied, it is time to sell it so that we can move to the next stage in our lives; while leaving behind a house that is like almost brand new, beautiful and completely ready for a new family and their own adventures...
